Experience

Echter's is one of the largest retail garden centers in Colorado.  We grow many unusual varieties of flowers not normally found in garden centers.  We offer over 2500 varieties of flowers each year.  We have built our business on the quality and performance of our plants.  The service offered is second to none.  At least one plant doctor with a minimum of 10 years of garden center experience is on staff every day to answer customers’ questions.

All of the annuals, perennials, roses, and poinsettias grown by Echter’s are sold through the retail store.  In addition to the plants grown in the greenhouse, Echter's sells trees and shrubs, and houseplants.  

The remodeled and expanded garden center has 70,000 square feet of display area inside. Our patio shop has fine outdoor furniture and garden benches, and outdoor cooking systems.  The wildlife department has bird feeders, bird houses, and specialty blends of birdseed for the bird enthusiast. Echter’s holds many community events at no charge.  In summer Echter’s hosts a blood drive.  In fall Echter’s hosts a quilt show, a glass show, and an art show. Echter’s has free visits with  Santa before Christmas collecting donations for the Arvada Food Bank. 

At Christmas time the garden center is transformed into a Christmas wonderland with thousands of colorful poinsettias, pre-lit life-like Christmas trees, fresh-cut Christmas trees, themed trees decorated with unusual ornaments. 

Echter's is a family-owned business. The President is Steve Echter. Dave Echter is the Vice President and General Manager. The business was started at this location in 1959. We have been a retail garden center since 1978. Echter's has 30 employees year-round and 100 during the spring season. We grow 85% of our annuals and 40% of our perennials at this site.

We're a little out of the way but, We're quite out of the ordinary!

We are active members of Garden Centers of America, Garden Centers of Colorado, and the Colorado Nursery & Greenhouse Association.  We are also a member of Home & Garden Showplace, the garden center identity  of the True Value Company, a national member-owned buying cooperative of 8,000 stores. This gives us the ability to sell at values that are competitive with anyone. We also have many products that are exclusive to True Value stores.
